Our State, Our Languages
coalition partner & brand identity
About the Coalition
Our State, Our Languages (OSOL) is a coalition of grassroots community organizations that came together in the summer of 2022 following a decade of advocacy related to language access compliance in the state of Tennessee. My role in coordinating a part of this work as a coalition partner is through API Tennessee.
In 2024, OSOL filed a federal complaint with the US Department of Transportation and the US Department of Justice alleging language access national origin discrimination by the Tennessee Driver's Services division of the Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security.
The coalition continues to fight for a Tennessee that is accessible to all.
Brand Identity
As an Our State Our Languages Coalition member, I designed the brand identity. The design process was guided by the coalition's community-centered mission and the need to be accessible to state's diverse population.
A Brand that Speaks for Tennessee
The coalition's branding uses bright colors that embody its bold vision for a Tennessee for all. The logo utilizes speech bubbles, a direct tie to its language access work.

Accessible Typography
An important part of the coalition's work is producing documents in various languages in different scripts. Google's Noto is a set of fonts for "typographically correct global communication" that the coalition uses across all its platforms.
